HISTORY
Demerara Shipping Company Limited was incorporated on February 16th 1994 as a subsidiary of Demerara Distillers Limited. Initially, this company acted as an agent for its parent company’s vessels.
On the 17th of May 1994; Demerara Shipping Company Limited (DSCL) acquired the agency rights for Europe Caribbean Lines (ECL)/Vertraco. Subsequently, DSCL was appointed as the agent for Trade Winds; which in addition to moving their own cargo also provided a feeder service for Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) cargo from Trinidad to Barbados, Guyana and Suriname until they decided to cease operations in 2002.
A Sub-Agency agreement was then made on the 18th of September, 2002 between Demerara Shipping Company Limited (DSCL) and Mediterranean Shipping Company (Trinidad and Tobago) Ltd.
The company has improved and upgraded its services and has risen to the challenges of the ever changing demands and dynamics of international trade.
